The FlyExperimental Project began in May of 2008. My cousin, a former Navy pilot, current Alaska 737 driver and new owner of a flying Van's RV-4, showed up at KANE to show it off and talk shop. I had always been in love with flying, but had never been up close and personal with an experimental aircraft before. I was stunned by the quality and performance. That weekend I attended a pancake breakfast put on by a local EAA chapter. Two weeks after that I bummed a ride in an RV-7 from my new friend Tom Bergie. There was no turning back. |

I have since brought to bear all of my spare time and filmmaking skills to what I am calling "Fly Experimental". I beg rides, scratch up change for avgas, borrow equipment and plead favors to make this vision of aviation a reality. My hope is that someday it will pay for itself, but for now, I am driven purely by the experience.

The mission of Fly Experimental is to share the purest experiences of flight - from the perspective of the builders and pilots - with whomever shares their passion. So far I have filmed in eight locations, all across the United States. I have more than 100 hours of footage "in the can". As I am able, I will be cutting it up into small chunks and delivering it through this web site. In the future, FlyEX will be available as a two-hour HD documentary - either on DVD/Blue-Ray - or possibly on a cable network. |
